You know you work with small kids when....

I took my class to computers the other day. When we walked in it smelled strongly like poo. Shortly after my class went in and started sitting in their seats, one of my students said, "Miss Bawden, So-and-so's chair has brown sticky goop on it." I went and checked it out. Well, it wasn't brown sticky goop (if you know what I mean) and it wasn't just on his chair, there was a lot of it on the ground underneath the chair and the stuff on the chair looked like it had been smeared by a student's hand. My student's hand by the looks of it because then this student said "I need to go wash my hands." I told him, "Yes, wash it really well and don't touch anything with that hand!" We got the custodian to come and clean it up, but that was sure a surprise!

Homework Surprise!

The other day one of my students came into class and pulled out her homework. I noticed that it was really crinkled and that it had a yellow stain across it, and thought, "What on earth did you spill on this?" She soon answered my question, as she held it out for me to take it from her. Right before I grabbed it, she said "My dog peed on this. Is that okay?" So, instead of taking it, I had her hold it out while I checked, then made her through it away and thoroughly wash her hands. Ew!

Kids Write and Say the Funniest Things!

As we were doing writers workshop in the kindergarten class yesterday, one of little boys wrote 'This is boring I like to play. I hate snowmans but I love nomans.' I thought it was pretty funny! Also as the students were working on a calendar project another little boy said, "Nobody talk to me, I'm going to do something very important!" as he started to cut something out. :)

Fall 09 Block Blog

Hey Everyone,

Welcome to our class's blog! I created this block for all of us from the Fall 2009 Elementary Ed. Block so we can keep in touch and share ideas and with eachother throughout our student teaching experiences and beyond! You are welcome to post questions, frustrations, successes or whatever you want. But keep in mind this is the web, who knows who could be reading, so be careful what ya say, and change student's names if you want to mention them. ;)

Thanks!!!
